What is behind the name?
The word Auspex refers to the ancient Roman sages tasked with interpreting the winds to guide decisions. Since the wind itself is invisible, the Auspice’s divinations relied heavily on observing the flight of birds.
The name NeurAuspex is rooted in the idea that human cognition, like wind, is not tangible. Instead of birds and leaves in the wind, we use our knowledge to observe and interpret data of behaviour and physiology.
Who is behind NeurAuspex?
NeurAuspex is headed by Dr. Maximilian Hauser. With experience in academic and industry level research on both sides of the Atlantic, he has deployed a large range of experimental designs tailored to different topics of interest. These range from evaluating the success of language learning paradigms on the basis of neurophysiology, to memory research coupled with virtual reality set-ups, as well as translational studies between different species.
